Vertu, the luxury smartphone maker headquartered in Hong Kong, has unveiled the Alphafold, a foldable device designed specifically for business executives who need to manage company operations on the go. The phone integrates an AI agent called Hermes Agent, built on the open-source Hermes project developed by Nous Research, which connects directly to enterprise software systems like ERP and CRM platforms. Executives can use natural language commands to handle approvals, schedule meetings, track sales, plan travel, and generate operational reports—all from their device.
The Alphafold starts at $6,880 for a calfskin model, with premium variants featuring alligator leather, 18K gold accents, and natural diamonds pushing the price to $46,800 for the highest-end standard configuration. Vertu is also offering further customization options for additional cost. The company, which built its reputation on opulent handsets and premium concierge services popular with wealthy buyers before the iPhone era, has changed ownership multiple times as mainstream manufacturers like Apple and Samsung captured the luxury smartphone market.
The device can route requests across multiple AI models, including OpenAI's GPT, Anthropic's Claude, and Google's Gemini, while also integrating with over 80 applications and dozens of native phone functions for cross-platform workflows. Vertu noted that Phone-to-ERP and VPS deployments will be customized for each customer based on their existing enterprise infrastructure, with pricing adjusted accordingly. The launch represents Vertu's latest effort to remain relevant as consumer-focused AI features on smartphones from major manufacturers continue to proliferate in the broader market.
