John Deere is testing a new "JD" AI assistant designed to help farmers make more money by answering questions about best practices and historical trends based on their own data. The tool uses field, machine, and operational data to provide answers on topics like equipment settings, fuel usage, and harvest timing. The company has not disclosed which AI technology powers the platform.
The assistant is currently available to select US customers through the John Deere Operations Center as part of an Early Access Program, with broader rollout planned for web, mobile, and eventually in-cab equipment displays. The announcement comes alongside John Deere's 10-point Farmer Data Commitment, which states the company will not sell farmer data and allows farmers to control third-party data sharing.
John Deere also indicated plans to expand the AI assistant beyond agriculture, with capabilities tailored for customers in turf, construction, roadbuilding, and forestry sectors.
