Stability AI has raised $76 million in fresh funding, the company announced Tuesday. The round drew investment from major entertainment industry players including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group, and gaming giant Electronic Arts, along with AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. CEO Prem Akkaraju, who joined in 2024, called the funding an affirmation of the company's vision for generative AI in creative industries.

The company plans to use the capital to expand its "creative production" product suite and grow its professional services division. Founded in 2019, Stability AI offers AI models for music, video, and image generation. Over the past year, it has signed co-development partnerships with Universal Music and EA last October, and with Warner Music last November, moving beyond simple licensing arrangements.

The company has also had recent legal wins. It largely prevailed in a copyright lawsuit brought by Getty Images in the United Kingdom over the use of images in training its image generation model, though a similar Getty lawsuit remains pending in U.S. courts. Additionally, Stability AI was sued in 2023 by co-founder Cyrus Hodes, who claimed he was tricked by fellow co-founder Emad Mostaque into selling his company shares.
