This isn't Altman's first time suggesting ChatGPT can assist with parenting. He previously said on 'The Tonight Show' that he couldn't imagine raising a newborn without it, though he acknowledged 'people did it for a long time, no problem.' OpenAI is currently hiring for a product manager focused on building trust-sensitive experiences for parents and families, while Meta is testing an AI-powered bedtime story app.
Despite these efforts to appeal to parents, OpenAI faces multiple lawsuits from families alleging ChatGPT contributed to mental health crises, including delusions and suicides. The company says it's 'continuously improving how our models respond in sensitive interactions.'
