Meta is expanding its subscription business with new monthly plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp users worldwide. The company announced on May 27, 2026, that it is rolling out consumer subscription tiers across its flagship platforms: Instagram Plus at $3.99 per month, Facebook Plus at $3.99 per month, and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99 per month. Subscribers will receive additional features such as enhanced profile customization options, super reactions, and story insights. Meta's head of product Naomi Gleit stated that "more fun features" will be added to these tiers in the future as the company looks to attract power users seeking more functionality from their social media apps. In addition to consumer plans, Meta is beginning tests of professional offerings for creators and businesses, as well as AI-focused subscription options. These new tests will fall under the "Meta One" branding, which will serve as the centralized home for all of Meta's subscription products moving forward. The company confirmed that the Plus plans do not replace Meta Verified, its existing verification service, suggesting users may be able to subscribe to both tiers simultaneously. The move represents Meta's strategy to diversify its revenue streams beyond advertising, which has been its primary source of income. With Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp having already achieved near-global saturation among billions of users, the company is seeking ways to extract additional value from its existing audience. Meta had confirmed earlier this year that it was planning subscription offerings, with initial tests beginning in the spring of 2026.
