Google unveiled Googlebook, a new line of laptops designed from the ground up to work with Gemini AI, at its virtual Android Show: I/O Edition event on Tuesday. The company partnered with major manufacturers including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to produce the devices in various form factors, with availability scheduled for this fall. Googlebook will feature "Magic Pointer," a new cursor with Gemini integrated directly into it, along with the ability to run Android phone apps directly on the laptop and create custom widgets. The search giant also introduced "Create My Widget," a feature that lets users build their own custom widgets using natural language descriptions. Users can describe what they want—such as requesting weekly high-protein meal prep suggestions—and the feature generates a dashboard widget that can be added and resized on the home screen. The tool will debut on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer. Android Auto received significant updates, including a refreshed interface with widgets, edge-to-edge display support, and compatibility with unusual screen shapes like circles and ultrawide formats. The redesign allows drivers to keep important information visible at a glance even while navigating. Media applications like YouTube Music and Spotify received car-optimized interfaces for easier use while driving. Notably, Android Auto will gain the ability to stream YouTube videos in 60 fps full HD on supported vehicles, a first for the platform, arriving later this year.
