Google I/O 2026 marked the company's official entry into what it calls the agentic Gemini era. The company launched Gemini 3.5, described as delivering frontier intelligence for agents and coding, alongside Gemini Omni, a model that combines reasoning with creation and can generate high-quality videos from images, audio, video and text inputs.

The Android Show introduced new hardware built for these tools, including the Googlebook developed with hardware partners. Google also expanded its personal wellness lineup with the new Google Health app and Fitbit Air, and rolled out proactive tools like the updated Gemini app and Universal Cart for shopping.

Additional announcements included an experimental combination of Project Genie with Street View that lets users simulate and explore interactive 3D environments of real-world places in the browser, a new Google Flow Music partnership with musical artists, and an initiative applying advanced quantum science and AI to the life sciences.
